Frequently Asked Questions

  • I offer both! Sessions can be in person in Oak Park or online for anyone in Chicago or across IL.

Many people prefer to meet online from the comfort of their own home. Others enjoy the connection of being in person together. It depends on what works best for you.

When seeing children I strongly prefer in person sessions. Often we will do parent meetings online.

Online sessions mean you can log in therapy from your couch! If you are not sure if online sessions might be a good fit for you, reach out and we can talk about it.

  • I do not accept insurance. I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please know that not all insurance plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network providers and some plans may have a deductible or an allowable amount. It is also important to consider that a Superbill requires that I list a mental health diagnosis. I recommend calling the customer service number on the back of your card and speak to a representative for details about your specific plan.

  • I charge $160 for a 50-60 minute session.

  • Prior to your first appointment, you will fill out paperwork online. This paperwork will give me some initial information about you and what is bringing you to therapy. This allows us to jump right in during our first session.

Often the initial appointments can feel a bit awkward as we get to know each other. It is common that people are not sure where to start in their first session. Typically I will ask more questions and be a bit more directive in the first appointment.

It is good to remember that we will get to know each other and develop a way of working together. It doesn’t stay awkward and uncomfortable! It is important to me that you feel comfortable speaking up if you want something to be different or something isn’t work for you. This is your time and I want to ensure that you are getting what you need.

  • This is a great question. It is hard to know without getting to know you. Everyone’s needs and goals are unique.

I understand that therapy is an investment of your time and money. Of course you want to see results from that investment.

Throughout our work together we will talk about what changes you are seeing outside of therapy. This will help guide us in deciding how long to work together.

  • I return phone calls and emails as quickly as possible. As an outpatient provider, I do not have the ability to respond immediately or in a crisis. If you are finding that you need support between sessions, that will be an important things for us to discuss. I can often offer a second session during the week. I can also help to locate a program with a high level of support.

If you are having a mental health emergency, call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.
